I was watching the PlayStation State of Play on September 24, expecting updates for a few new Sony titles, but what I didn’t expect was a double bombshell.
Deus Ex Remastered and Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered both got announced for PS5. We were in for big Sony updates, but instead got these classic gems getting a fresh coat of paint!
So here’s what we know: Deus Ex Remastered is launching on February 5, 2026, for PS5, and also for Xbox Series X/S, PC (Steam), and Nintendo Switch.
This isn’t a full Deus Ex remake, but a carefully reworked version. Aspyr is working together with Eidos-Montréal to deliver the remaster, and they promise enhancements like upgraded lighting, dynamic shadows, upscaled textures, revamped character models, better lip-sync, enhanced water and particle effects, and more modern control support. Quality-of-life upgrades like autosaves, faster loading, cloud saves, and support for ultra-wide displays are also included.
For those who didn’t experience this classic back in the day, here’s a bit of information. The original Deus Ex (set in 2052) follows JC Denton, a nano-augmented UNATCO agent who slowly unravels conspiracies behind systems he was sworn to protect. The game starts as a “simple mission” but becomes something far bigger.
Personally, I’m pumped to revisit it with modern polish, but not all fans are sold yet. Some critics point out that the redesigned visuals are “too shiny” or “over-smoothed,” and comparably worse than fan mods that have already polished the game.
I get the concern… for purists, a remaster is a delicate balance. But I still remain hopeful that the gameplay core stays true.
Then there’s Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered, set to land on March 19, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch, Switch 2, and PC. For fans who love massive battle scenes, such as 1 vs. 1,000 chaos, this is big news.
This version bundles together the original Dynasty Warriors 3 and its expansion Xtreme Legends, updates them with Unreal Engine 5 visuals, and refines UI and gameplay to feel smoother and more modern.
It also preserves the old mechanics (like the True Musou attacks, officer systems, large enemy waves) but polishes animations, battlefield visuals, and re-creates more than 40 officers, plus additional content from Xtreme Legends (extra stories, weapons, challenge modes).
As such, you can think of it both as a remaster and a remake.
The Dynasty Warriors 3 Remake keeps the classic formula: choose one of over 40 officers from the Three Kingdoms era, charge onto large maps, and crush waves of enemies. TGS 2025 disclosed that the devs will also bring in some newer mechanics from Dynasty Warriors Origins, enhance quality-of-life, and adapt combat refinements to make the experience more fluid.
I personally can’t wait to swing through massive armies again, now with better visuals and fewer frustrations. I’ve always loved getting lost in huge hack-and-slash sandboxes; this Dynasty Warriors 3 Remaster might just scratch that itch better than ever.
