If you’ve logged into Fortnite today and noticed something missing, you’re not alone. Epic Games has removed the Fortnite Peacemaker emote, also known as the Peaceful Hips dance, and the community is buzzing with questions.
As someone who loves Fortnite crossovers, this caught me totally off guard. I mean, the emote had only been in the game for less than two weeks! So, what’s going on with the Peaceful Hips emote disabled situation, and why did Epic Games take such a big step?
Epic Games posted a statement on their official Fortnite Status account today, saying:
“We’re disabling the Peaceful Hips Emote in Fortnite as we inquire into our partner’s creative intentions in this collab emote. Assuming it’s not coming back, we’ll issue refunds in the next few days. Sorry folks.”
As seen above, the Fortnite Peacemaker emote removed notice is real. Players who bought it no longer have access, and refunds are expected if the dance doesn’t return.
At first glance, it just looked like another quirky dance inspired by Peacemaker Season 2. But things got complicated after the latest episode revealed a darker twist.
If you’re watching Peacemaker Season 2, you’ll know that the latest episodes revealed a shocking twist: an alternate world called Earth-X where the Nazis actually won World War II. Suddenly, some fans began connecting the dots, and the Peaceful Hips emote disabled issue was no longer just about “funny John Cena dance moves” anymore.
Many viewers said that the dance movements resemble a swastika, which would obviously be a massive problem in a game played by kids and teens. Now, whether that’s true or just over-analysis, it was enough to push Epic Games into pulling the emote for review.
Even if that wasn’t the intention, the timing is suspicious, and Epic clearly isn’t taking chances.
James Gunn, the show’s creator, kept the Earth-X twist a total secret, even from critics, to avoid leaks. That means Warner Bros. and DC probably didn’t know the emote could carry a different meaning once the new episodes aired, let alone Epic Games. If that’s true, it feels like a classic case of miscommunication during a collaboration.
Honestly, I can’t really blame Epic Games for being cautious here. The last thing Fortnite needs is headlines about players “doing Nazi dances” in the middle of a battle royale.
To me, it just looked like a fun John Cena dance. But I get why Epic doesn’t want even the slightest chance of Fortnite being associated with that imagery.
Reactions in the Fortnite community have been mixed. Some players are frustrated, saying it’s just a dance and people are reading too much into it.
Others think Epic absolutely made the right call by disabling the emote before things got out of hand. I... kind of sit in the middle.
That’s a big question. Is the Fortnite Peacemaker emote removed forever, or just temporarily?
Well, Epic Games hasn’t really given us a final answer. For now, they’re investigating and will refund players if it doesn’t return.
Honestly, this whole situation is pretty wild. One minute we’re vibing with John Cena’s goofy dance, and the next we’re talking about alternate universes, Nazi salutes, and refunds. But hey! At least Epic is giving players their V-Bucks back.
